The Atlanta Recovering Professionals Program (ARP) is designed to provide specialized intensive residential treatment and long-term monitoring services for medical and other professionals with addictions. ARP provides several levels of service and works as an adjunct to the Men’s Recovery Program and the Women’s Recovery Program. (See Men’s Recovery Program or Women’s Recovery Program for complete program details.)
ARP is appropriate for all those who report to licensing boards and monitoring programs, such as doctors, dentists, pharmacists, pilots, nurses, teachers, clergy, attorneys, etc. It also includes those individuals who have completed a professional education and have specialized knowledge or skill.
Those who enter the ARP program receive three additional weekly groups with other recovering professionals along with regular reporting to licensing boards, professional health programs and advocates. This is in addition to all services offered in the Men’s and Women’s Programs. In Phase II ARP clients participate in a Mirror Image Program in which professionals work in a voluntary capacity at local treatment centers with clients early in recovery. Comprehensive aftercare is also available for those living in the Atlanta area and arranged with appropriate providers for those living outside Atlanta.
ARP aids licensing boards, professional health programs, monitoring programs, families, and individuals who are uncertain about the presence of addiction, by offering a 4-day Comprehensive Substance Abuse Evaluation. This process includes neuropsychological testing, psychiatric evaluation, group and individual therapy sessions, psychosocial evaluation, medical evaluation and residential living. The 4-day evaluation fee is $2,600 and is due at the beginning of evaluation.
Admissions Process
It all begins with a phone call. Admissions counselors are available Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm ET to answer questions about MARR. Once interest is established a counselor will set an appointment for an assessment with the prospective client. When possible the assessment takes place face to face. However, for individuals outside metro Atlanta a phone assessment may be arranged. The assessment covers a variety of topics and generally takes about an hour. Usually within one business day MARR will provide a response about admission. Clients are then scheduled to admit based on the outcome of the assessment.
Assessment counselors are available M-F, 8am-5pm ET at 678-805-5131 or 800-732-5430.
Financial Arrangements Program cost – 90-day Atlanta Recovering Professionals Program: $26,860. The minimum admission fee is $9,500. MARR does everything possible to keep the cost of treatment as low as possible without compromising the quality of treatment. As a benefit to clients, MARR offers a 5% discount when patients remit full payment within 7 days of admission. This discount is awarded upon successful completion of the 90-day program. Clients are responsible for the entire cost of treatment (balance to be paid in full on or before discharge). MARR is not a preferred provider for any insurance companies and does not submit claims. However, MARR will supply insurance claim information to clients in order for the client to submit these forms to their insurance company for out-of-network coverage. Follow-up on unpaid claims is the insured’s responsibility. Clients who leave treatment prior to 90 days will incur an administrative fee of $2,000.
Payment for medication – Many clients require medication during the course of treatment. We ask that prescription insurance cards be presented upon admission and that a credit card number be provided to be kept on file at the pharmacy and in the client’s chart.
Personal accounts – A personal account is established upon admission and maintained by an administrative assistant of the center. The client or client's family may either make a deposit into this account on the day of admission or they may do so on a weekly/monthly basis. Clients may withdraw spending money (amount determined by site) each Friday for the upcoming week. Spending money may be used for personal items, purchasing books, supplementing gas for drivers, and community activities. It is the client’s responsibility to keep track of the account balance. Funds may only be withdrawn from accounts with a positive balance.
Insurance Process
Payment in full for services provided at MARR is the sole responsibility of the client.
MARR is out-of-network for all insurance companies. Some insurance companies will pay out of network benefits. If this is the case, it is the insured's responsibility to verify insurance benefits and complete the MARR Insurance Benefits Verification Form and attach a copy of the front and back of their current insurance card prior to admission.

As a courtesy, MARR will complete any pre-certification and/or utilization reviews with the insurance company, if required.
In addition, MARR will mail completed claim information monthly to the insured or the appointed personal representative to file with their insurance company.
It is the insured's responsibility to file claims and follow-up with their insurance company.
Furthermore, it is the insured's responsibility to re-file and/or appeal if requested by their insurance company.
MARR is not responsible for any failure of an insurance company or managed care organization to provide reimbursement for any services provided. Please note that payment to MARR is the client's responsibility regardless of insurance status.
Life after MARR
Completion of MARR’s 90-day program is certainly a great milestone. However, continued sobriety and living a life of recovery is the goal. Prior to discharge, a comprehensive aftercare program is set up for each client. A therapeutic leave may be used to allow the client to go home and check out aftercare arrangements prior to discharge.
MARR alumni contacts can provide support for finding resources in the client’s home community such as 12-Step meetings and spiritual life groups. Alumni groups also host meetings (some as frequently as monthly) to support each other’s milestones.
Making Referrals to MARR Clients may come to MARR by way of intervention, private therapist, pastor, alumni, family, friend or internet. However they come, the first step is to make a phone call. The MARR Admissions Team will help individuals determine if MARR is the appropriate treatment option and begin the assessment process. Admissions counselors are available M-F, 8am-5pm ET at 678-805-5131 or 800-732-5430.
