For years, the negative stigma of addiction has deterred addicts and family members from seeking help. Because addiction is a FAMILY disease, family participation in recovery is essential. MARR’s Family Recovery Center sets the standard in treating the entire family.
The Family Recovery Center offers education, support and counseling to families struggling with a loved one’s addiction.
We teach families that addiction is not something that they caused and that they can’t control the addict’s using and actions.
We also help families understand how the disease of addiction has impacted their own behavior.
Our goal through education and support is to help families learn what they can do to help themselves and to relate to their addicted loved one in a healthy way. Through the Family Recovery Center families begin their ownjourney toward recovery and encourage their addicted loved one to do the same.
The MARR Families and Recovery Workshop is an intensive three-day-long program designed to provide education, support and therapy to adults and adolescents ages 14 and older. The staff of MARR believes that those who have been in relationships with addicted individuals experience their own struggles and pain. If the family is to survive and grow, it is critical that the individual members begin their own recovery process. This workshop is offered approximately every 7-8 weeks. If you have not yet received an invitation by mail or email to register, please contact your MARR family counselor before registering for this event.
This workshop is designed to help clinicians who work with families affected by addiction by providing the education, skills and support the family needs to relate in healthy ways to the addict and to each other.
MARR is pleased to offer four different group options for family members of alcoholics and/or addicts interested in ongoing support. Please contact the corresponding leader for more information on becoming a member of a MARR Family Group prior to attending. We ask that group members commit to a minimum of 4 sessions.
