Overview of Services

Introduction

MARR understands that addiction is a disease that affects the entire family and provides services to support family members and significant others. Active involvement of family members and loved ones is an important part of the treatment process and can have a positive affect on the addicted individual. All family members are encouraged to fill out a Family Questionnaire to enable our Family Counselor to best assist you.

Family services include phone check-ins, weekly family support groups, a three-day Family Workshop and individual, couple and family counseling.

Phone check-ins

In order to have any contact with family members/significant others we must first have a signed release from the patient in treatment. During Phase I of treatment (otherwise known as “feeling school”) a family counselor will be your primary contact with MARR. They will call to update you on the patient's progress, offer support, and answer any questions you may have. Family members in need of additional support are encouraged to attend our weekly groups (if local) or set up a counseling appointment either by phone or in person.

Weekly Family Support Groups

MARR offers weekly support groups for spouses/significant others, couples **and parents. Click on Family Groups tab for the current schedule.

Family Workshop

Our three-day intensive workshop is designed to provide education, support and counseling. It is offered approximately every eight weeks and families are strongly encouraged to attend. You will be sent an invitation by the family staff when your loved one has finished Phase I and the time is deemed appropriate. Family in attendance at the workshop will be provided one individual session during the three-day period to include the loved one in treatment and a counselor. We also recommend you attend some type of 12-step program such as Al-Anon, Nar-Anon, CoDa, Celebrate Recovery, **etc. as a way to prepare for the workshop. A description of these groups is under the Al-anon and other support groups tab.

Individual, couple and family counseling

MARR offers counseling to families on an as-needed basis. Your family counselor will work with you to determine when counseling would be helpful and whom they would recommend you see.
