As you search for a treatment center, you will find several here in the Atlanta area. So how do you decide which one is the "right" one for you or your loved one? There are several reasons why MARR stands apart from the others.
MARR has served the metro-Atlanta area and beyond for more than 35 years! We have treated upwards of 12,000 men, women and family members in our centers; teaching them how to live sober, not just how to live dry. MARR is a non-profit organization that is both high-quality and cost-effective. The residential program is a minimum of 90 days, which has been shown to be more effective in achieving ongoing recovery than shorter treatment stays. We are spiritual-based and incorporate the 12-Steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. MARR is state-licensed and accredited by The Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, JCAHO.
The physiology of addiction between men and women is very different and requires different treatment strategies. Our safe and structured treatment environments are gender-specific. MARR is proud of the longevity of our counselors; all counselors are licensed and/or certified and are experienced in the treatment of addiction. Our clients have access to both group and individual counseling. Each client has an individual therapist and together they develop an individualized treatment plan that is reviewed and updated regularly.
Addiction is an isolating disease that affects the physical, mental, and spiritual areas of a person's life. A balanced lifestyle in recovery is the treatment goal of MARR, and we utilize the therapeutic community as the primary treatment agent for change. Our clients live in a therapeutic environment, sharing an apartment/townhouse with three or four other MARR clients of the same gender. The community members in two adjacent apartment/townhouses combine to form a therapeutic community. Together in this home-like setting, clients learn to live healthier lives through a connection with God, self and others.
Addiction is not an individual disease; it affects all those that surround the individual, especially the family. MARR's Family Program works with parents, spouses, significant others and children. We are dedicated to bringing total recovery to families suffering from the effects of addiction. Families are mentored in a disciplined, caring and respectful environment. The needs of each family are addressed to achieve a strong and lasting recovery. Family members can participate in an intensive three-day workshop, as well as ongoing weekly support groups.
MARR clients are fortunate to be able to participate in activities at Camp Donnie Brown on a weekly basis. This retreat center on Lake Allatoona is the perfect alternative for further therapy, exercise and bonding activities. The serenity of the lake and the wooded surroundings offer a welcome opportunity for contemplation, introspection and meditation.
