Women's Recovery Program

The Women’s Recovery Program offers groups that are specific to the needs of women, including physical and emotional trauma, sexual abuse, body image, depression and disordered eating. The program structure and the dedicated staff are focused on providing women a safe place to begin working on these core issues.

The Women’s Recovery Program requires a minimum 90-day commitment beginning with intensive day treatment for the first 30 to 45 days. This initial phase of treatment is commonly referred to as "Feeling School" and includes groups, educational classes and individual assignments related to Steps 1-3. At the conclusion of Phase I, the staff and client review progress and identify treatment goals for Phase II. The client will then meet weekly with an individual therapist to work on these goals. In addition, Phase II of the program requires clients to secure employment of 30-35 hours a week. Through the daily routine of getting up, cleaning up and showing up, clients begin to learn a balanced lifestyle of recovery as they continue to attend evening groups and work through the 12-Steps of recovery.

Phase I – During Phase I, clients are involved in a structured day program Monday –Friday from 8:15 to 2:30. The program, referred to as Feeling School, incorporates psycho-educational groups, group therapy, spiritual life groups, 12-Step work and planned exercise. Clients also attend 12-Step meetings and weekly worship/spiritual services.
Phase II – In Phase II, clients incorporate employment into their schedules and maintain attendance at 12-Step meetings, therapy groups and worship/spiritual services. They also begin work with an individual therapist on their specific issues in addiction.
Phase III – Upon completion of Phase I and II, a MARR client may be eligible to continue treatment in MARR’s extended recovery residences. These communities are available for MARR graduates to continue practicing the recovery lifestyle in a sober environment with peer accountability and support.

What is Therapeutic Community?
Addiction is a disease of isolation. At MARR the therapeutic community is the primary treatment agent. MARR clients live in a therapeutic environment, sharing an apartment/townhouse with 3 or 4 other MARR clients of the same gender. The community members in one apartment combine with the community members in an adjacent apartment to form a therapeutic community. Together in this homelike setting, clients learn to live healthier lives through a connection with God, self and others. Balancing the daily activities of work, groups, treatment and home life in their community is part of the therapeutic value acquired through residential treatment.

An important aspect of the therapeutic process is facilitated through contracts. As part of the community, clients develop growth goals and concrete goals for themselves. These goals, in the form of a contract, are presented to the community to ask for accountability and support toward reaching these goals. Community members become responsible to the other members of their group to support them as they work toward their goals.

Admissions Process
It all begins with a phone call. Admissions counselors are available Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm ET to answer questions about MARR. Once interest is established, a counselor will set an appointment for an assessment with the prospective client. When possible, the assessment takes place face to face. However, for individuals outside metro Atlanta, a phone assessment may be arranged. The assessment covers a variety of topics and generally takes about an hour. Usually within one business day MARR will provide a response about admission. Clients are then scheduled to admit based on the outcome of the assessment.

Admissions counselors are available M-F, 8am-5pm ET at 678-805-5131 or 800-732-5430.

Financial Arrangements
Program cost – 90-day Women’s Recovery Program: $23,620. The minimum admission fee is $9,500. MARR does everything possible to keep the cost of treatment as low as possible without compromising the quality of treatment. As a benefit to clients, MARR offers a discount when patients remit full payment within 7 days of admission. This discount is awarded upon successful completion of the 90-day program. Clients are responsible for the entire cost of treatment (balance to be paid in full on or before discharge). MARR is not a preferred provider for any insurance company and does not submit claims. Clients who leave treatment prior to 90 days will incur an administrative fee of $2,000.

Payment for medication – Many clients require medication during the course of treatment. We ask that prescription insurance cards be presented upon admission.   Additional funds may be needed for their Personal Account to cover the co-pay of medications.  The site nurse can work with uninsured clients and their medication needs on a case-by-case basis.

Personal accounts – A personal account is established upon admission and maintained by an administrative assistant of the center. The client or client’s family may either make a deposit into this account on the day of admission or they may do so on a weekly/monthly basis. Clients may withdraw spending money each week for the upcoming week. Spending money may be used for personal items, purchasing books, supplementing gas for drivers, and community activities. It is the client’s responsibility to keep track of the account balance. Funds may only be withdrawn from accounts with a positive balance.

Insurance Process

  • Payment in full for services provided at MARR is the sole responsibility of the client.

  • MARR is out-of-network for all insurance companies. MARR services are IOP (intensive outpatient) Day 1 – Day 30; OP (less intensive) Day 31 – Day 90.

  • At the request of the INSURED, MARR will provide a detailed end-of-the-month statement of all services rendered for the 90-day program.

  • It is the insured's responsibility to obtain claim forms from their insurance company, fill them out completely, file with their insurance company, and follow up on all claims.

  • Furthermore, it is the insured's responsibility to re-file and/or appeal if requested by their insurance company.

  • MARR is not responsible for any failure of an insurance company or managed care organization to provide reimbursement for any services rendered. Please note that payment to MARR is the client's responsibility regardless of insurance status.

Life after MARR
Completion of Phases I and II of MARR’s treatment program is certainly a great milestone. However, continued sobriety and living a life of recovery is the goal. Prior to discharge, a comprehensive aftercare program is set up for each client. A therapeutic leave may be used to allow the client to go home and check out aftercare arrangements prior to discharge.

MARR alumni contacts can provide support for finding resources in the client’s home community such as 12-Step meetings and spiritual life groups. Alumni groups also host meetings (some as frequently as monthly) to support each other’s milestones.

Making referrals to MARR
Clients may come to MARR by way of intervention, private therapist, pastor, alumni, family, friend or Internet. However they come, the first step is to make a phone call. The MARR Admissions Team will help individuals determine if MARR is the appropriate treatment option and begin the assessment process. Admissions counselors are available M-F, 8am-5pm ET at 678-805-5131 or 800-732-5430.
